June Jones Resigns From Hawaii

Less than a week after Hawaii's 41-10 blowout loss to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, June Jones reportedly has resigned. Jones, like Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia, has cited problems with the athletic department as the reason behind the resignation. He will meet with SMU officials Tuesday to negotiate a contract that is said to be worth $2 million.

Time will tell but this seems like it could be a smart move for Jones. First, the facilities at Hawaii have apparently been lacking for years and have been a point of protest for Jones. Plus money talks and getting paid $1 million more to coach in C-USA in a recruiting hotbed definitely could pay off. Plus he has a good quarterback in Justin Willis who could have some success right away at a school that really hasn't had any success since 1987 when they got the death penalty from the NCAA.
Now the real question is whether June wheres a cowboy hat in place of the lei on the sidelines in Texas.
